By integrating our filtration, mixing, and thermal processing technologies with our partners' biotechnology expertise, we will provide the infrastructure for the entirely new industry of cultured meat and cell agriculture. At the intersection of the growth areas "Well-being" and "Environment," we will contribute to solving food and environmental issues while building a new pillar for our engineering business.
Challenges we want to solve through co-creation:
Developing process equipment essential for bio-manufacturing—such as large-scale cell culture bioreactors, culture medium filtration/purification systems, and sterilization systems—for the cultured meat and cell agriculture industries expected to see widespread adoption in the 2030s
From the perspective of food security and environmental impact reduction, the alternative protein market based on cultured meat and precision fermentation is projected to grow to a scale of several trillion yen by 2030. However, current production remains small-scale, and there is a shortage of process equipment enabling large-scale, low-cost production. While our company possesses engineering expertise in filtration equipment, mixing equipment, and kilns (with sterilization applications possible), we lack the sterile design expertise specific to bioprocesses and the know-how for optimizing cell culture conditions.
